Super Mario Bros. 2 - Cgc 9.4 B+ Sealed [Round] NES Nintendo 1988

$9,000.00 USD $9,500.00 USD

A gorgeous first print CGC graded copy of Super Mario Bros. 2 for the original Nintendo console. With vibrant box colors (which coincidentally match the CGC holder perfectly) and no distracting marks or stickers on the box front, this is an exceptional copy.

First print sealed copies of this title are hard to come by. On this copy a hard to see, small slice in the seal on the back of upper left of the game box likely caused the B+ seal rating from CGC and does not distract from the overall aesthetics of this otherwise pristine example.

About Super Mario Bros. 2

Featuring design and playstyle elements that differentiated substantially from the groundbreaking smash hit Super Mario Bros., this sequel ultimately earned critical recognition in its own right and is one of the best selling NES games of all-time. Although accounts from the time period vary, it's believed that the initial sequel planned for Super Mario Bros. was deemed too difficult for US audiences so instead Nintendo created an enhanced port of their 1987 Famicom game Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic to release as Super Mario Bros. 2 in the North American market. The only Mario game during this time period where you could choose to play as multiple characters, including Toad and Princess Toadstool, this sequel stands on its own as a classic but unique Mario title.

From a collecting perspective Super Mario Bros. 2 is highly sought after for a multitude of reasons. It's one of the most popular NES titles, it has arguably some of the best Mario Bros. box art of all time, and it's one of the best games for the NES period. Collectors wishing to put together a variant set for Super Mario Bros. 2 can still do so with relative ease, though they face stiff competition from collectors looking to put sets together of both the most popular games for the NES as well as the most popular games of all-time!
